Ajoba wanted her to be raised close to nature. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, away from readymade routines. “Children sparkle in the lap of nature — amidst vales, rivulets and crickets,” he had shared in one of his letters. Named after his favourite Tagore character, Chitrangada, she felt pressured to become someone she was not. While daddy read Ajoba’s letter, she thought to herself, “I am not a warrior princess like Chitrangada. I am me.” But who’s she? For days and months, the question kept popping up. She had instructed her mind to keep it under wraps, in the corridors of confusion. But minds were never meant to be obedient.
At some point, after spending a teenage summer in Spandan — Ajoba’s two-room mud house in Sakurli, she had an answer. “She” is a voice. A voice that makes itself heard. A voice that stands its ground. She is the voice of courage. And for the first time in life, she felt a lot like herself; a lot like Chitrangada.
Find your voice in this handwoven blue and green Mashru saree. Made of the finest cotton and silk, this striking saree comes alive with subtle gold and silver zari detailing.
This saree has been handwoven by a master weaver in the Mashru tradition. The Mashru weave is said to have originated in West Asia, in the 19th Century. The fabric is woven with a silk weft and a fine cotton warp. It thus combines the ageless comfort of cotton and the timeless aesthetic of silk, elevated by the presence of gold and silver zari.

In a world that was urging her to go faster and harder, she’d learned to value the little pauses. She began to embrace the sweet nothings, the comfortable silences, and the moments in which she could just be and not do. And that night, when the full moon made an appearance from behind its veil of grey clouds, she decided to embrace it with her whole heart. Making her way to the courtyard, she slipped off her shoes and ran barefoot on the cool cobblestone. As she swayed to a rhythm that only she could hear, her heart was free.
Relive the magic of a moonlit night when you wear this breezy black kurta, which is paired with white bottoms. The kurta is made of handloom Jamdani cotton, while the bottoms are made of cotton. This set includes an under-layer.
Jamdani is also referred to as extra-weft ornamentation, on-loom embroidery, or discontinuous weft. The patterns are developed on graph paper and fastened under the warp. A weaver then painstakingly works the on-loom embroidery using needles or extra weft shuttles, creating each motif individually. Jamdani fabrics feel delicate and opulent while also being light, comfortable and very fashion-forward.
Cotton silk is a blend of cotton and silk. Clothes made of this fabric are lightweight, soft, breathable, and have an elegant sheen. This hybrid fabric is especially popular as it can be worn with comfort and ease during both summers and winters.

It was a tradition that began even before her memories began. Her mother would give her a small allowance each week and encourage her to save it, until their monthly trip to the candy store. There, she could buy whatever her heart desired and her mother would not object. She’d spend hours at the store, marvelling at the bright colours and the curious shapes. Although she was now a grown woman who didn’t have to count on her mother for her allowance, the tradition had lingered. And, for those moments, it felt as though she was transported to the Candy-land of her childhood, all over again.
Reminisce about your sweetest memories, when you wear this beautiful orange kurta that’s paired with white bottoms. The kurta is made of handloom Jamdani cotton, while the bottoms are made of silk. This set includes an under-layer.

“I…I think…ummm, errr…” — there was a languid pause. The voice of a 7th grader was breaking off as she stood shaking in front of the mic. All of a sudden her mind went completely blank as she stared at the chit of paper that had her impromptu topic written on it — “Sharing is Caring”. It was her first extempore competition and the entire school watched. They watched her with eyes of contemplation and anticipation, she had never failed them or anyone or herself when it came to speeches and debates. Because she had a natural way with words, she had been voted by the class for this one too. She did not see this coming. The crowd was bigger than ever — is that why she had zoned out? But she never faced stage fright before — the stage was a friendly zone for her. Then what made her so nervous, so conscious? She turned around to see if he was still standing there and he was. He was in 10th, strongly built and bore a charismatic personality, the way she imagined college students to be. He was smart, oh-so-smart! A smooth talker, proficient in world affairs and told people EXACTLY what he thought about them — and yes, she couldn’t believe she had a crush on him!! His confident, placid demeanor drew her to him like a moth to the flame. She was worried about being judged, for every word that came out of her mouth! What if he passed a derisive comment before the other seniors? Worse, what if he did not like her after this? A million absurd things ran through her little head as she tried to collect some cool, impressive words to speak. Her best friend played the moderator of the event. She quickly spotted her unease and stepped forward pretending to adjust the mic. With one hand she pressed her arm and whispered into her ear: “you know you are the best!” And just like that, the freeze was over. And it struck her how beautifully they shared a moment which showed how much she was cared for. The next thing she knew, words were flowing out of her pretty mouth and once she was done with the speech, she wasn’t really done — to add that extra spark that she was so famous for, she called her friend back on stage and sang a song together for the enthusiastic audience, their laughing faces and clapping hands helping with the rhythm of “Main Koi Aisa Geet Gayoon…” That was definitely a winning moment for her as she stepped out of the arena without even waiting to hear the winner’s name.
This handloom cotton kurta in black with red and white detailing has been made with as much love as you knew of during the growing-up years. Drape it to experience the warmth of your childhood, and then some more.
Handloom cotton is a type of fabric that is woven using hand operated looms. Two sets of interlacing yarns, the warp (length) and weft (width), are woven on a mechanised loom operated by weavers. These looms do not use electricity. Human handling lends the fabrics a unique feel and renders the fabrics more value. The art of hand weaving is labour intensive and takes a longer time. But, the beauty it adds to the fabric is priceless. Choosing handloom cotton supports the rich weaving heritage of India and lets the weavers carry on the precious art-form to the future generations as well.
The beautiful pomegranate-inspired motif that symbolizes the co-existence of contrasts is hand-woven into the fabric and brings a gorgeous charm to the fabric. It reflects the idea of breaking stereotypes and looking at things in more than one way, of acceptance and un-labeling. Are you ready to box up all those labels and promise never to open that box again? Welcome to the world of “Anaar Hi Anaar” then! There is one anaar for everyone — whether you choose to wear a saree or a kurta or stitch a dress with its fabric.

Handloom cotton is handwoven by our weavers on mechanical looms. The process is time and labour-intensive, using techniques that have been passed down across generations of artisans. The resultant fabric is extraordinarily soft, breathable and resilient, and also drapes very well. Using handloom cotton not only helps us to work with smaller weavers but also plays an important role in reducing the environmental footprint of the garments we produce.

His grandmother often lamented that she’d never had a chance to discover herself, as a person. She’d spent her entire life being a wife, a mother, and then a grandmother. She longed to experience what it felt like to go out and earn your own living. To not have to ask, but to give. That Diwali, he decided to surprise her by setting up an online store to accept orders for her traditional treats. Together, they prepared a large batch of dodha barfi, one of the first desserts she’d cooked for his late grandfather. She swore that her barfi made him fall in love with her. A few days later, he proudly handed his grandmother her first cheque. As she held it in her withered hands, a small tear trickled down her cheek.
