Handloom cotton is handwoven by our weavers on mechanical looms. The process is time and labour-intensive, using techniques that have been passed down across generations of artisans. The resultant fabric is extraordinarily soft, breathable and resilient, and also drapes very well. Using handloom cotton not only helps us to work with smaller weavers but also plays an important role in reducing the environmental footprint of the garments we produce.

On most nights, the city shut down like clockwork at the stroke of midnight. The loud buzz of traffic slowed down to a quiet hum. The streetlights were dimmed. And save the lonesome bark of a wayward stray dog, their neighbourhood fell completely silent. But that night was different. Every window on their block was festooned with glittering fairy lights, each flickering with the anticipation of the upcoming festivities. Even from so many miles above, from a darkened airplane window, she could feel the joy reverberating. This time, she would celebrate with her loved ones. And that thought warmed her heart.
Light up every night with your iridescence, when you wear this black and gold handwoven Jamdani saree, with gorgeous zari detailing. The saree is made of the softest mul cotton to ensure the most comfortable and figure-flattering wear.
Suta’s ‘made in heaven’ mul cotton is also known as mul mul in West Bengal. The fabric is buttery soft and has a delicate beauty. Its weave is very fine and this lends a very fluid texture to the fabric, which makes draping it a breeze. Jamdani is an incredibly intricate weaving technique. Each motif is inlaid into the fabric using a supplementary weft technique. Here, extra weft threads, often denser than the base, are added using individual spools while weaving. This technique makes the motifs appear as though they are floating on the fluid cotton fabric. Jamdani weaving is highly time intensive and it takes anywhere between several weeks to months to weave one saree. It is indeed a labour of love. These sarees are embellished with delicate zari detailing that enhances their elegance and adds a regal charm.

Yes, times were tough, but her inner radiance would make even the wriest cynic pause in their tracks.
Spread your goodness while adorned in this lovely beige lehenga, made of linen zari.

Her own thoughts were a world unto themselves and she could go on exploring it for days. She had an insightful depth to her eyes and her words made sense. Yet could never speak a word and still be heard, never make a move and still be felt. She was that lavender flower that could sit in a quaint corner of the room, yet fill the space with a fragrance that lifted the scene to bliss!
This gorgeous saree in a lavender shade in made-in-heaven mul with screenprinted polka dots is a must-have!
The designs on this fabric come alive on our made-in-heaven mul sarees through an intricate process known as screen-printing. This process involves the usage of a mesh-screen made of synthetic polymers that is strung onto a metal or wooden frame at high tension. A stencil with the negative image of what is to be printed is placed beneath the screen and emulsion is applied to create a positive image that lets the dye seep through the screen. The dye is then applied on the fabric through the screen to print the desired image. Every design for screen-printing is made with a live-sized screen and each colour of printing requires a separate screen. So, the process of printing gets more and more intricate with addition of more colours in a design. It also makes the work of artisans more laborious as a result. The screens that are created for printing are stored with utmost care to keep them safe from damage or distortion. The lengthy procedure and the many steps involved become worth it when the beautiful final product is created.
The base fabric for these sarees is the forever-favourite made-in-heaven mul.
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!

The art primarily involves making patterns on fabric by sewing using a needle and various types of threads or beads. Although embroidery has been a part of various cultures across the world, Indian embroidery has always been regarded to be very intricate and exquisite. Our country’s history has shaped the development of embroidery. The art of embroidery is so evolved in our country that almost every state has its own special kind of embroidery today. Although the British rule did cause a setback to handicrafts in India, the resurrection of embroidery after Independence has been remarkable. Intricate embroidery from India is valued world over. Embroidery work on sarees and blouses is very popular and involves a process that consists of various stages. First, various types of popular Indian motifs and artistic designs are first created on paper. These designs are then traced onto the fabric and then the embroidery is done by expert artisans. The art of embroidery is passed down from generation to generation and the nuances of hand embroidery can hardly be matched by machines. Creating art on the canvas of fabrics is definitely something that has an innate beauty that adds a lot of value to apparel.
