This is a cotton, block-printed dress.

Block printing, an age-old printing technique, is a process of printing designs on a base fabric using wooden stamps dipped in dye. The intricately carved stamps are a wonder by themselves and there are separate sects of craftsmen who specialize in this. The wooden blocks are seasoned, and used to bring beautiful prints alive on the fabric by skilled artisans. The block-printing for this dress is done on a cotton fabric that is soft, comfortable and a favourite with our Queens.
