Dear Diary,
Today, it rained. I’d heard so much about the rains in Bombay. Those who live here, love them. Those who’ve moved here can’t see what the fuss is about. I wondered what I would think of it. As it turned out, I didn’t have much of a choice - the rain arrived abruptly, without much fanfare. It had been a very hot day and when the evening brought a cool breeze with it, I thought it would offer much needed respite. But, as I was walking home, the sky turned dark and big droplets planted themselves on my head and my person. Before I could react, I was soaked through, as was everyone around me. However, I lacked their dexterity - their ability to disappear under awnings and temporary shelters, where they would wait for the skies to relent. I foolishly decided to persevere, and it was the longest, scariest walk I’d ever taken. The streets soon turned to mini rivers and I struggled to find my footing. The auto-rickshaws and taxis refused to ply, leaving so many stranded. As I shivered on my long, lonely walk home, I thought about Ma and how she’d somehow make things better if she’d been around. How I’d be greeted with warm chai, a warm hug and hot pakoras to take the edge off. All I had here was myself and, for the first time since I’d move, I felt very small and very alone. Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day? For today, all I can hope for is a restful night’s sleep.
Look for the silver lining in life’s darkest clouds, when you wear this multi-coloured cotton dress.
The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft and delicately beautiful. The weave of this fabric is very fine, and this lends a very fluid texture to it that makes draping it a breeze. It is truly like a hug that wraps you in its love!

She thought she had seen all that there was to the beautiful sight that was the little spot on the hill until a spot of green piqued her curiosity. As she followed the trail, she found a whole new world of a kingdom just at the surface of shallow waters. The lantana, ignored and overlooked, smiled at her and she saw how the gaze of the human eye does not ever define the beauty in this world! There is always more!

The handloom cotton garment that the dress is made of is naturally-dyed using plant-based dyes that are derived from the barks of trees, the leaves, flowers, etc. Natural dyeing is a process that is kind to the planet as there are no chemical dyes involvedHandloom cotton is a type of fabric that is woven using hand operated looms. Two sets of interlacing yarns, the warp (length) and weft (width), are woven on a mechanised loom operated by weavers. These looms do not use electricity. Human handling lends the fabrics a unique feel and renders the fabrics more value. The resultant fabric is softer and much more comfortable than machine-made fabrics. Handloom cotton is more breathable and thus feels lighter in summers and is perfect for layering in winters.
The art of hand weaving is labour intensive and takes a longer time. But, the beauty it adds to the fabric is priceless. Choosing handloom cotton supports the rich weaving heritage of India and lets the weavers carry on the precious art-form to the future generations as well.

I dreamed of waking up. In the soft light of dawn, the dew sparkled on the moss green leaves. Patricia’s Pride blooms line the garden path with their elegant enthusiasm. The sky is a creamy white, and the essence of lilies fill my lungs with bliss. The earth around me wears her pride in hues of beige, white, and maroon that aimlessly awaken the natural green of the foliage.
This is a off-white coloured, handloom cotton, kimono sleeved overlay dress with beautiful Herringbone hand embroidery accents.

It was the holiday she’d only read about in books and caught glimpses of in the movies. She’d often wondered what it would feel like – to be footloose, fancy-free and completely oblivious to everyone and everything. To only listen to the whims of her wayward heart. The Vespa before her gleamed in the morning sun. To her, it was a symbol of the life she’d always dreamed of. And one she’d worked so hard to achieve.
So, she determinedly fixed the helmet over her cascading curls and fastened the straps below her chin. As the motor purred to life and the scooter bounced along the picturesque cobblestone paths, she could feel the world around her receding into a hazy blur. Every sound melted away and all she could hear was the rush of the wind. It was time to embark on new adventures. And, she was ready.
This white handloom cotton dress with delicate hand-embroidered detailing will be the perfect companion to your windswept adventures.

Do you know how whenever you watch a movie or a show that’s set in Mumbai, they invariably include a clip about the famous local trains? Well, today I decided to take the ultimate test that all true Mumbaikars must go through - I took the train. But before that, I did my research. It turns out that afternoons work the best, followed by late at night to beat the crowds. So, at 9 pm, I bought myself a round ticket to the farthest station from my house and hopped on. I have to admit that, at first, I was a little sceptical. I mean, what could possibly be special about a train ride? How different would it be to any other mode of public transport? But as the journey progressed, I realised that my train compartment was its own ecosystem. It had witnessed the formation of many new friendships, seen many tempers flare and subside, and the beginning and end of many stories. Many hopefuls had taken this same train to important interviews, many lovers to reach their soulmates, many to their ailing loved ones that needed them urgently, many to their places of work, worship and rest. Similarly, my story would find its place amongst the many clothes, woven into a seamless collage of old and new.
